We Would See Jesus

The day my preaching changed

A friend was invited to speak in a large, wealthy church in Tennessee. He was introduced and then walked to the pulpit. As he laid his Bible on the pulpit, he saw a small plaque at the top of the pulpit that read, “We would see Jesus.” My friend was humbled. His preaching changed forever.

He shared the story with me, and it changed my approach to preaching.

I had a small metal plaque made for him with only the words, “We would see Jesus”.

The next time I spoke in his church, he introduced me, and I walked to the pulpit.

As I laid my Bible down, I saw the small plaque at the top of his pulpit.

My preaching has never been the same.
